Showcases above-average fluidity through his hips when asked to turn and run, but tends to lose balance easily in his lower half, causing him to flail his arms and lose a step out of his transition. Isn't real clean or balanced in his footwork either, especially when asked to play in off-coverage.
Doesn't look comfortable sitting into his stance, quickly allowing his pad level to rise and gets long and choppy with his footwork. Consistently will open up his hips prematurely and isn't a guy you can trust on an island.
Does a pretty good job reading his run/pass keys off the line and has a good feel for when to slip blocks and attack the football downhill. However, isn't always the most interested of tacklers. His effort seems to run hot and cold, and even when his effort is hot, he still isn't a real impressive tackler.
Impression: Has some natural fluidity and straight-line speed for the position, but will have a tough time making an NFL roster as a slot guy due to his raw footwork/technique."
Positive: Adequately sized cornerback who plays an aggressive brand of football. Fluid turning his hips transitioning off the line, displays the ability to drive to the ball out of his plant, and has a closing burst of speed. Uses his hands to get off blocks, quick up the field quickly, and aggressively defends the run. Works hard to defend throws.
Negative: Slow pedaling in reverse and possesses poor footwork. Gives up a lot underneath receptions. Lacks great closing and recovery speed.
Analysis: Harris lacks great athletic skills for the next level yet could be used as a dime back in a zone system. He plays with a special teams mentality, which will also help his cause at the next level."
Strengths: Versatile player who has started at both corner and safety. Can line up wide or in the slot, and both in the box and deep as a safety. Rugged, physical, well-built DB who can lay the big hit and is a sound tackler. Prefers off coverage but is stout enough to play up tight. Used on the blitz and has a knack for timing his jump to surprise blockers. Good athlete with loose hips; moves well in space and can adjust to the ball. Relishes contact and attacks the run.
Weaknesses: Lacks height and great speed. Played mostly off/zone coverage and lacks man-to-man technique. Hasn't shown an elite closing burst, but this may be due to scheme rather than a lack of ability.
Projection: Solid player likely a late-round pick. Versatile and scrappy and should find a home in the NFL as a special-teamer as he learns the nuances of playing NFL DB."
