Strengths: Johnson is a big bodied receiver who has enjoyed success at the FBS (at UCLA) and FCS (at Cal Poly) levels. He is a strong route runner who can create separation with his sharp routes despite his less than ideal speed and quickness. Has deceptive speed that makes him dangerous as a deep threat because of his leaping ability. Has great timing and leaping ability. Can go up for the rebound and come down with the catch consistently. Great hands. Great body control and flexibility to adjust to balls thrown every which way. Johnson has the ability to catch balls high, low or on either side of his body. Great target in the red zone because of his size, leaping ability, and hands. Has the awareness to make catches on the sidelines.
Weaknesses: Lacks deep speed and quick feet to do a lot damage after the catch. Needs to work back to the QB on routes more consistently. Has an injury history (missed part of 2009 season and 2010 Spring Practice with shoulder problems--also missed virtually all of 2006 season with UCLA with ankle injury).
Projection: 7th rounder or UDFA who'll need to prove his shoulder is OK during physical exams."
