Possesses a good first step when asked to press the hole, gets up to speed quickly and displays a real second gear to his game at the second level. Exhibits good footwork and fluidity in tight areas with the ability to routinely make the first man miss and quickly accelerate past them toward daylight. Has the balance and footwork to make cuts at full speed once he gets into the second level, but will allow his pad level to get upright and loses balance much easier this way than he does at the line of scrimmage. Will get a bit upright at times fighting for tough yards inside and really has a strong lower half for a guy his size, dragging defenders on his back and fighting for yards. But for the most part keeps his pad level down and can quickly make his way through creases.
Possesses good vision and overall patience when asked to set up blocks in front of him. Trusts his initial burst and doesn't need much time to explode into daylight. Is a violent cutback runner with good slashing ability in a phone booth and in space. Can really sink his hips in and out of his breaks generating good lateral explosion in the opposite direction. Also, catches the football well out of the backfield and down the field showcases natural hands to pluck the ball and is a tough kid who is willing to cut down blitzing backers and block in the pass game.
Impression: Needs to learn to protect himself a bit more in the open field to keep from getting banged up. However, he's a natural runner with good footwork, balance and explosion in tight areas and if he can regain his junior form the guy is certainly worth a draft pick and can make a roster. His medical will be the key though.
Strengths: Breaks tackles. He's a powerful, upright runner. Has good leg drive. Very productive in 2009, scoring 21 total TD's. Adequate speed for his size.
Weaknesses: Knee injury hurt his production. Durability might be a concern for NFL teams. Doesn't have great acceleration or top speed. Won't run away from defenders.
Projection: Projected 5th round pick due to durability and production issues in 2010. Could improve significantly if a team falls in love with his Adrian Pederson-like running style."
