Cougars ~ 6033/243
When evaluating MidFielders, these are the Attributes to which I pay most particular attention:
Run Defense ~ Processing Speed, Power, Agility, and Mechanics as he Works Traffic and of course Tackling.
Pass Coverage ~ Processing Speed, Agility, and Verticity. Tackling.
Pass Rush ~ Power, Agility, and Mechanics.
Intangibles ~ Processing Speed, Field Vision, and Motor.
Pass Coverage ~ Excellent. Tremendous Field Vision and terrific Timing and Instincts.
Pass Rush ~ Proficient. Impressive command of the roiling Tactical LandScape and outstanding Timing enable him to exploit Angles and Rhythm. Not remarkably Powerful or Agile, though, and his Mechanics are mediocre.
Intangibles ~ Outstanding Diagnostic Capacity, Processing Speed, and Field Vision. Consistently Reads & Reacts to the Play with Speed & Precision, whether in Run Defense or Pass Coverage. Strong Motor. Crafty.
I also strongly believe that guys like Van Noy, who works his ass off, thinks quick, and by all accounts genuinely loves this Great Game, tend to be the ones who develop razor-sharp Instincts and simply Make Plays...often when most needed.
He's the kind of guy, in short, who while perhaps only moderately talented, is someone you want out there when it matters.
Even so, I believe his Capacity to Make Plays at the College Level is probably significantly greater than it will prove to be at The Next Level, and I believe that it has consequently driven his Stock higher than I perceive to be warranted.
Thanks, as always, to the extraordinary Work by the men of Draft BreakDown!!
