Carolina State WolfPack ~ 6021/200
Intangibles: Diagnostic Acuity, Field Vision, and, above all: Processing Speed. And of course: Motor. Motor Matters.
Agility: Acceleration, Fluidity, and Closing Speed. And of course: Verticity!! Turning & Burning in Direct Coverage.
Pass Prevention: Combat Skills in Coverage, and Timing, Vertical Burst, and WingSpan at the Catch Point.
Run Support: Appetite, Tactical Discipline, and Combat Skills ~ working through Traffic & Tackling Mechanics.
Agility: Superior. Impressive Fluidity Verticity for a 6020 guy, though not much Ricochet out'f'is Breaks, which can cost'm.
Pass Prevention: Deficient, though with Potential. Doesn't exhibit much Tracking or Timing, and his Combat Skills are disappointing for such a big guy, but he's got impressive Vertical Agility and WingSpan to work with.
Run Support: Ineffective. Doesn't exhibit much Field Vision, Combat Skills, or Core Power in Battle. Adequate Motor.
His Fluidity is very impressive ~ more than sufficient to play Deep Center ~ but I believe that his Length prevents him from generating the Ricochet he needs ~ "Turn & Burn Acuity", to you Earthlings ~ to redirect himself rapidly enough to generate the Acceleration he'd need to cover enough Range to play effectively at The Next Level.
And his Processing Speed ~ at least at this point in his development ~ also seems inadequate for the CenterFielder's Responsibility to Rapidly Read & React consistently and effectively to the roiling LandScape of the BattleField.
Of course, that sluggish Ricochet will cost'm as a CornerBack, as well, but far less so if he's deployed in a Man Coverage Scheme as a Press Corner where he can simply be cut loose to "mug guys at the Line of Scrimmage" as the venerable Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com once eloquently put it. There, his Fluidity would be quite sufficient.
Dontae Johnson is a risky bet, to be sure: All he's really got going for'm as demonstrable Strengths are his Length and his remarkable Fluidity...But those are tremendous Advantages, and if he can be trained up ~ and perhaps Beefed Up a bit or two ~ then he has the Potential to become a very effective Press Corner and forge a lengthy, successful Career.
Thanks, as always, to the extraordinary Work by the men of Draft BreakDown!!
